Part-time Trinity Certificate in TESOL

Maybe you’ve been slogging away in the same job for years and are looking for a change of direction. Or perhaps you’re just looking for exciting new challenges and opportunities. Well our 12-week, part-time course could be the stepping stone to one of the greatest, most positive experiences of your life.

Our part-time Trinity accredited TESOL Course covers exactly the same material as our full-time course. The only differences are that the course runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 6-9pm and every Saturday between 9-3pm (with an additional 'guided planning' session after that, from 3-5pm).

Week 1

Just like on the full-time course, this is an exciting week when we're all first getting to know each other. It's full of new experiences for everyone so relax, get rid of your inhibitions and enjoy yourself.

During the first week of the course we will cover the basics of English language teaching methodology. Your teaching practice doesn't start until week two of the course, and so on Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as Saturday, we will spend time doing practical workshops and preparing you for your first teaching experience!

Weeks 2-12

From week 2 onwards Tuesdays and Thursdays will be devoted to your 'Teaching Practice'. Having covered the basics of language teaching we will ask you to try out some of the things you've learned on real students. You'll start by doing four 30-minute lessons. You will have time to plan your lessons in the days between teaching days. After that you will complete four 60-mnute lessons. All of your lessons will be observed and assessed by an experienced teaching practice tutor, and you will receive verbal and written feedback. In total you will do six hours of assessed language teaching to real students.

Input during weeks 2-12 will be delivered on Saturdays (9-3, and 3-5). And the final Saturday will be devoted to moderation day, when an assessor will come from Trinity College London to look over your work, interview you, and discuss some of your work with you.

Just like on the 4-week course there are four assignments you will need to complete. These are: the Language Learner Profile, a Teaching Log, a Materials Assignment and a report on an Unknown Natural Language.
